PASTORAL COUNCIL
Last Monday, February 14th, the Pastoral Council embarked on a good dialogue about what it means to be “multicultural”. This was based on the difference that the United States Bishops make between the term “incorporation” versus “assimilation”.
Deacon Don Canonica gave a short report on the “Why Catholic?” Program which will begin in the Fall in St. Mary’s. Sandy Halperin is going to investigate a similar program in Spanish that Fr. Dennis Berry, S.T. has composed for the Hispanics in his parish. This might be of help to us.
John Rowe gave some information about the “Apostolic Planning Project” of the Archdiocese. He informed everyone that Fr. Kane and he will be attending a meeting at St. Bede Parish in Montogomery on March 3rd. Representatives from all the Parishes of the Montgomery Deanery will be present.
The next meeting of the Pastoral Council is scheduled for Monday, March 14th, at 7:00 p.m.
STATIONS OF THE CROSS SCHEDULE

Once again, we focus on Fridays of Lent as special moments for community fasting and prayer.
Every Friday of Lent (except Good Friday), we begin by sharing a simple meal of Soup & Bread in the Parish Hall at 6:00 p.m.
Every Friday of Lent, we gather in church as a community to pray the Stations of the Cross at 7:00 p.m.
As in the past, we try to pray the Stations in a variety of ways. Here is this years schedule:
Feb. 18 — Traditional Stations
Feb. 25 — Musical Reflections of Aaron Neville
Mar. 4 — Bi-lingual celebration
Mar. 11 — Children of the Religious Ed Program
Mar. 18 — the Confirmation class
SPANISH CLASSES
Mr. Dean Houston met with a group of around ten St. Mary’s parishioners last Thursday. He explained that the Spanish he would teach could be called Survival Spanish. This means basic and sufficient enough for small conversations. The students of this Spanish class have changed the meeting day. The class is now held on Wednesdays, at 7:00 p.m., in the Parish Hall.
Mr. Houston assured everyone that the classes would not go beyond an hour’s duration. He will supply all needed materials. Even if you did not attend the organizational meeting, you can join this week.
