Penance Service

On Monday, October 25, at 7 pm, St. Michael’s & St. Mary’s will celebrate a Penance Service at St. Michael Church in Auburn. The Sacrament of Reconciliation is a beautiful opportunity for all of us to strengthen our union with God by admitting our sins and sinfulness and asking God for forgiveness.

Changes in the English Mass

Beginning on the 1st Sunday of Advent, 2011, several changes in the vocabulary in our present Mass prayers will be changed. (Go to http://www.nccbuscc.org/ to see the changes.) On Oct. 12 & 13, all the priests of the State of Alabama are invited to a meeting in Prattville so that these changes can be explained to them. They, in turn, will be able to explain them to their church membership. Because of this, Fr. Kane will be out of the parish from after Mass on Oct. 12 until late Wednesday afternoon the 13th. (The Mass in Spanish, Vietnamese, etc. is not affected).

United in Diversity – For the Love of God

Saturday, October 9th, at 7 pm, is the day & hour when the families of St. Mary’s & St. Michael’s come together as one Christian family and focus on FAMILY VALUES. In the midst of song and prayer, we thank God for our families. We listen to Mery Lupoli-Rojas, a Social Worker, speak about families and family values. This celebration, which is for people of all ages, will take place in the Social Hall of St. Michael Church in Auburn.

Homily – Fr. Marty on the Centennial of the Mission

Fr. Marty McGeough returned to Opelika for the Centennial Celebration Week for the founding of the Vincentian Mission in Alabama. He chose the gospel of the mustard seed as his starting point. Listen to his homily for this event.

 

Catholic Family Gathering

The parishes of St. Mary’s and St. Michael’s invite you to join us for a Catholic Family Gathering – we are united in diversity for the love of God.

When: 7:00-9:00pm on Saturday, October 9, 2010

Where: St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Auburn AL

What: A family evening featuring choir music (Spanish and English), artistic dance presentation, a talk about family values, piñatas and more! Snacks will be provided (but food contributions are welcomed!) This gathering is being organized by St. Mary’s Parish.
